The power of a photograph and the powers of a collection of photographs:

I visited the Anneburg Space for Photography yesterday in Los Angeles (see http://www.annenbergspaceforphotography.org/) and got to experience the National Geographic WATER issue in bold presentation. If you have a chance to see this presentation, do so. If you have a chance to visit the space, do so. There are photographs displayed in large proportions (the way we photographers love to see our work), in a digital touch screen media, allowing the viewer to have an interactive interface with viewing images, and there are several video presentations of the images, interviews with the photographers, picture editors and story editors, as well as video presentations on the 'behind the issue' and the assemblage of the print version of the NG Water issue.

As for the topic of Water and water conservation. After seeing this presentation I am concerned about the future of our planet and our peoples as water becomes more and more scarce. Scarce in the very general terms of today, but much more in the specific terms of tomorrow. I believe in conservation and not being wasteful. Every other living being on this planet uses a resource for life and what is that being's waste, is used by another for life. Not so with humans. We need to look at our fellow organisms on the planet and be more like them. Less waste, more use of what we have.

Hats off to being more of a proactive photo-journalist and the photographers of the NG. A goal I strive towards.

There is no way to put this nicely without sounding like I am whining.
It is tough covering the NBA. Tough on the body.

Yea yea we have a front row seat, I know I know.

We sit in little padded camping chairs, on the floor and very large and extremely tall basketball players (minus Nate Robinson) and referees step on us. I only bring this up because for over a week now I have been suffering from lower back pain after quickly twisting and lifting my heavier camera and 300 mm lens. In fact I am posting this in the middle of the night because I can not sleep.

Love my job, don't care for the logistics.

Ok, It is set up

I have been asked many times about setting up a blog to share some of the images and the story behind them, so, I have finally taken a couple seconds to get it set up.
