"Some days are not much fun. On this last day of the year I photographed the return of US Marine Sgt Daniel Vasselian to his wife and family. Too many sons and daughters have made the ultimate sacrifice for our continued freedom, leaving grieving wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, sons and daughters behind. If I could change one thing this coming year it would be to end human conflict. We deserve the right to disagree, just not the right to kill each other over those disagreements.
